Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Anna Marie Murray, Sioux Falls, SD three children, Dr. A favorite family gathering memory has to include his famous rotisserie chicken coupled with tall tales of fishing and hunting escapades. He excelled at down-rigger salmon fishing on Lake Michigan and was a talented self-taught taxidermist with both deer mounts and waterfowl. He especially enjoyed introducing his three grandsons to all aspects of hunting. Charles' passions centered around waterfowl and pheasant hunting with his beloved Labrador Retrievers. In addition, he served as treasurer of Sioux Falls Trades and Labor and was vice president of the SD State Federation of Labor. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, Communication Workers of America Local 7500, the VFW and the American Legion. Charles was employed at Northwestern Bell for over 30 years and also worked at LDDS and Lucent Technologies becoming fully retired in 1985. At first, he was a telephone lineman and cable splicer however, he eventually became a communications specialist and was singularly involved with installing one of the first large scale communication networks at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls. He continued to work at Northwestern Bell and was transferred to Sioux Falls in 1957. Charles was united in marriage to Anna Marie Grewe on Januat Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yankton, SD. After being discharged from Fort Knox, KY in 1952 he was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. Charles was later transferred to Korea and was involved with the Korean Conflict from 1950-1952. His tour of duty initially was in Okinawa, Japan. He graduated from Canton High School in 1949 and subsequently enlisted in the U.S.

Visitation begins at 5:00 PM Friday, January 11 at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and recitation of the Holy Rosary begins at 7:00 PM. Lambert Catholic Church, with burial at St. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Saturday, January 12 at St. Murray, 82, died Tuesday, Januat Good Samaritan Center in Sioux Falls.
